I was looking at the Gen. 5 G22 (And dreaming of owning one) and noticed the slide is 1.08". My Gen. 4 G22 slide is 1" wide.The locking lugs/blocks are different so barrels need to be 19 L or XL barrels for a 17 slide on 19 frame. You can use a gen 5 17 barrel in a gen3 17 slide on a gen3 19 frame. Since the gen 5 full size barrels were standardized at the 19 lug spacing. I used the lone wolf guide rod on mine but now wonder if the gen 5 17 guide rod would have been ...Mar 12, 2022 · ETA: If this is the case, I am concerned doing such is reducing frame integrity, specifically how the polymer envelops the steel slide rails. The Gen3 Slide, at the front where the slide retains the Recoil Spring Assembly, is smaller than the Gen4 Slide. So, while a Gen3 slide will fit into a Gen4 Frame, there is quite a gap between the Slide and the Frame.
