September 26, 2023 by Jim Hutchinson, Jr. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), pre-construction sampling work for the Ocean Wind 1 offshore wind facility cabling has been underway at Island Beach State Park (IBSP) since at least September 19, with more advanced construction work expected to begin in October.Permit use restricted to "fishing" and related activities such as travel to and from fishing location, setting up, stowing gear, and the like. All persons not “actively engaged in fishing” shall leave the park at closing time. MSFV permit holders may park in the 1st Swimming Area after midnight but shall leave the parking lot by 7 a.m.
