Now combo it with a powerful buff like sunlight blade/darkmoon blade, power within, and the hornet ring.On DS1 my favorite character used a Great Scythe so I though it would be a good weapon here too, too bad I was mistaken. The moveset is terrible who though that backstab on the second slash would be a good idea anyhow? However, the option to upgrade it to +7 doesn't appear on his menu. I've already given him the ember, and I have enough large titanite shards, but the option doesn't appear. Any way to fix this?

Coming from someone who's done a scythes-only playthrough, the best scythes are definitely either the Corvian scythe or Friede's. But since it takes a while to get Friede's, I'd definitely recommend Corvian. It does great on most infusions, particularly Sharp and Blood.
