The NH648 recommends 60 HP min. The Vermeer Rebel 5400 only needs 40 HP. You can pull the Vermeer with a smaller tractor and it will take hay at least 2 gears faster. The NH is a good machine because it uses the old expired Vermeer patents, but why pay more for older technology & a discontinued model when you can have a New Vermeer Rebel 5400.This belt is pre-cut to length and pre-laced with Clipper Hooks style lacing. Jun 21, 2016 · Have a buddy that bought a Rebel 5410 new. He had the cv joint fly apart on him after about 1,000 bales. Dealer put it back together and has been fine since. His is 3 years old and close to 2,000 bales. Our 5400 Rebel is about 10 or so years old bought used and has over 3,000 bales. Both balers have had bearing failures but nothing major.Jun 3, 2011 · I have noticed that some of the twine was tough to pull out of the twine ball, this would cause the twine not to pull through the baler and you would have to get off the tractor and pull it back. The twine arm has 4 holes in it for twine spacing. I like to use holes 1 and 4 for the wider twine spacing. I also recomend the start wraps be set a 6, the center wraps at 8 and the end wraps at 2 or 3.
